The horizontal well Yuyang 2HF for deep coalbed methane exploration (with guide hole) in the Daniudi gas field, undertaken by the Wupu 50791HB drilling team, started drilling at 23:30 on August 21, 2024, completed at 22:00 on October 9, and completed at 22:00 on October 13.

The cobalt well has a depth of 4275 meters, with a core extraction rate of 100% for a 16m pilot coal seam. The total well footage is 4687m, and the actual horizontal section drilled is 1200m. The coal seam drilling encounter rate is 83.8%, with an average total hydrocarbon content of 55.18%. The design drilling cycle is 60 days, the actual drilling cycle is 48.93 days, the design completion cycle is 68 days, the actual completion cycle is 52.93 days, the well construction cycle is 61.5 days, the drilling cycle is increased by 20%, and the drilling completion cycle is increased by 22.16%.

This well achieved a 6-day completion of drilling from cobalt to target point A in one trip, and a 8.58-day completion of drilling in a 1200m horizontal coal seam section. It broke the records for the fastest drilling cycle, completion cycle, well construction cycle, longest horizontal section of 1200 meters, and the highest coal seam total hydrocarbon display in deep coalbed methane exploration. The first deep coalbed methane mudstone roof pre exploration well drilling and completion task of North China Oil and Gas Company was successfully completed.
